29th November 2010 : Mawson Centre features today at 10am

Today we have Annie Payne, the Learning Development Coordinator on The Mawson Centre.

Not only do we have some excellent co-host chosen music, we discuss the many happenings around Salisbury and Mawson Lakes.

We have a look at the wrap up of the Mawson Lakes Garden show, a huge garden competition with over 64 entries!

Mawson Lakes is also in the running for being Safe Community Accredited, and we also look at Tour Down Under in Mawson Lakes.

Plus we also have many exciting programs happening in the near future in the local areas!

Monday 22nd November - So what is OPAL?

This mornings program features Alison Davies who is the Neighbourhood Development Coordinator for Burton and Morella Community Centres.

She talk to Gavin Fairbrother from the OPAL (Obesity Prevention and Lifestyle) Project, which is a project aimed at reducing the levels of childhood obesity in the communities of Salisbury/Salisbury Downs and Parafield Gardens.

Morella Community Centre is one of the organisations OPAL staff are working with. Find out what Morella will be doing as well as other local service providers.

Also Alison will talk briefly about the current renovations occurring at Burton Community Centre and the improvement in community facilities this will result in.

Kate Walker from Twelve25 Salisbury Youth Enterprise Centre features on this weeks show together with host / producer Bob.

Kate and Bob discuss the hectic end to the year 2010 as the youth programs celebrate and launch there end of year programs.

  • Our youngest Youth Theatre production on  December 16th (7.30pm) and 17th (3pm) called "The Twisted Twelve of Christmas" broadly based on the 12 days of Christmas. Only $5. Bookings essential.
  • "Dreams" Digital Photography exhibition, Thursday 25th November, 5pm - awesome work from 9 talented youth artists.
  • "Beyond Can Culture" Individual aerosol art exhibition, 29/11/2010 5pm, by up and coming youth artist Jarrad Klomp. Art works for sale.
  • Group Aerosol art exhibition (including some with an aboriginal theme) on Friday 10th December 2010 at 3pm. Artworks for sale.
  • Final 2010 LAN Gaming Party party on Saturday 4th December 1pm - 11pm, $10 entry, BYO computer. Free pizza and prizes. Book now.

Todays show features Michelle Grinter and Sanna Brannan (Coordinators of Bagster Road and Salisbury East / Paddocks Community Centres respectively).

The show focuses on a broad overview of all the programs being run across the three community centres and includes a insight into some of Bagster Roads specific programs.

Pooraka Farm Community Centre featured on Community Matters 10am, 25th October 2010

Community Matters Radio this week (Monday 25th October 2010, 10am) features the programs and news from Pooraka Farm Community Centre.

Heather Hewitt, the coordinator of the centre joins the show.

The show covers upcoming Christmas Gifts Workshop. The workshop over three sessions over 3 weeks, is low cost and fun way to make all the components of a Christmas hamper.

Also covered is the upcoming de-cluttering workshop and the regular Cafe Fridays program.

Heather also discussed the Mens Shed plans and the positive outcomes from the Centres recent AGM.

Community Matters is a short Radio program produced by the Youth and Neighborhood Services Division of the City of Salisbury to promote and support the 8 community centre across the council areas.

Monday 11/10/2010 Live Northern Lights Multicultural Festival show

Listen in live as Alison Davies (from Morella and Burton Community Centres) previews next Saturdays festival. Joining her in the studio will be Chris Fitzharris the chairperson of the organizing committee and she will be playing some of the sounds of the artists playing at the festival.

Youth Impact : Twelve25 Salisbury Youth Enterprise Centre features Monday October 4th, 10am

On today's (Monday 4th) show we have Kate Walker from Twelve25 Salisbury Youth Enterprise Centre.


Kate interviews Ben Whelem who is a volunteer at Twelve25 about his experiences and the many opportunities that volunteering can bring you!

 
We also look at some exciting school holiday activities, as well as the EPIC event - Northern Lights Multicultural Festival!

This event lets the many cultures of Salisbury to come together and show off their music, food and more! There will also be MANY stalls from service providers, and best of all, its free! Free entry, Free food, Free entertainment!

Also, we have a quick look at the upcoming MYOB course which is invaluable for those business people.
